Gregory R. Ave is the Managing Partner of Walters, Balido & Crain LLP and a highly regarded Texas appellate lawyer with extensive experience handling complex civil appeals, commercial litigation, and insurance coverage disputes. He represents corporate, institutional, and individual clients in high-stakes matters before Texas state and federal appellate courts, providing strategic advocacy in cases involving significant legal and business issues.
Greg’s practice focuses primarily on civil appellate litigation, with extensive experience before the Texas intermediate courts of appeals, the Supreme Court of Texas, and the United States Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit. In addition to his appellate work, he represents clients in state and federal trial courts throughout Texas in complex litigation involving insurance coverage, personal injury, contractual indemnification, construction defects, bad faith claims, contract disputes, landlord-tenant matters, First Amendment issues, patent infringement, antitrust, and other sophisticated commercial and business disputes.
He represents a diverse range of prominent clients, including AIG, Texas Farm Bureau, Walmart, Farmers Insurance Group, Nationwide Insurance, Liberty Mutual Insurance, AAA Texas, and GEICO, earning a reputation for providing practical, results-oriented appellate counsel in complex and high-value litigation.
Greg earned his Juris Doctor from The University of Texas School of Law in 1989 after graduating cum laude from Georgetown University with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration, majoring in Accounting and minoring in Government. Prior to his career with Walters, Balido & Crain LLP, Greg practiced with Touchstone, Bernays, Johnston, Beall, Smith & Stollenwerck, LLP, following his early career as an associate with Pepper, Hamilton & Scheetz.
He is admitted to practice in Texas, California, and the District of Columbia.
