Timothy W. Emery is a highly accomplished class action litigator and appellate advocate whose work has helped shape Washington employment, consumer, and privacy law. A founding partner of Emery | Reddy, PC, he has represented thousands of workers and consumers and currently serves as lead or co-lead counsel in dozens of class actions matters pending in state and federal courts. Through a combination of complex litigation and appellate advocacy, he has secured numerous landmark decisions and significant recoveries for workers and consumers.
Mr. Emery has served as lead counsel in class action matters and individual resolutions resulting in more than $350 million in resolutions on behalf of workers and consumers. His appellate practice includes precedent-setting victories before the Washington Supreme Court and Court of Appeals involving non-compete restrictions, pay transparency, workplace accommodations, and data privacy. These include David v. Freedom Vans, LLC, 4 Wn.3d 242 (2025), Branson v. Washington Fine Wine & Spirits, LLC, No. 103394-0 (Wash. 2025), Frisino v. Seattle School District No. 1, 160 Wn. App. 765 (2011), Nunley v. Chelan-Douglas Health District, No. 39571-5-III (Wash. Ct. App. 2024), and Jens v. Tori Belle Cosmetics, LLC, No. 22-2-06641-5 (King Cnty. Super. Ct.), decisions that have significantly influenced Washington employment and privacy law.
Beyond his appellate work, Mr. Emery maintains a broad litigation practice focused on employment law, consumer protection, privacy rights, and complex class actions. He regularly represents workers and consumers in high-stakes matters in both state and federal courts, combining strategic trial litigation with appellate advocacy to advance and protect their interests.
His work has also produced significant results in the data privacy arena, including Garcia v. Washington State Department of Licensing, No. 22-2-05635-5 (King Cnty. Super. Ct.), the second-largest data breach and privacy resolutions in Washington history.
Mr. Emery earned his Juris Doctor from Seattle University School of Law, his MBA from the University of Washington, and his Bachelor of Business Administration from Pacific Lutheran University. He is admitted to practice in Washington, Oregon, and Utah, as well as several United States District Courts and the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit.
