David Haller is the founder of Haller Law Firm and an accomplished South Carolina litigator with extensive experience in complex civil litigation and appellate advocacy. He represents clients at every stage of the litigation process, from trial through appeal, and is known for his strategic, detail-oriented approach to resolving high-stakes legal disputes. His appellate practice includes both challenging adverse trial court decisions and defending favorable judgments before South Carolina’s state and federal appellate courts.

Throughout the course of litigation, David places significant emphasis on preserving issues for appeal, ensuring that legal errors are properly identified and protected for post-trial and appellate review. His appellate practice encompasses post-trial motions, motions to vacate, motions for reconsideration, judgments notwithstanding the verdict, appeal briefs, writs, and amicus curiae briefs. He also represents clients referred by other law firms, evaluating potential appellate issues such as evidentiary rulings, procedural errors, faulty jury instructions, and questions of statutory and constitutional interpretation. Drawing on a thorough understanding of South Carolina appellate procedure and evolving case law, David provides effective written and oral advocacy before both state and federal appellate courts.

David has been involved in numerous significant cases that have shaped South Carolina law, including Johnson v. Collins Entertainment Co., which contributed to the end of video poker in South Carolina; Doe v. Diocese of Charleston, a class action involving claims of clergy sexual abuse; Crawford v. Central Mortgage, a South Carolina Supreme Court case addressing mortgage modifications and the unauthorized practice of law; and Lyons v. Fidelity National Title, which helped clarify the scope of title insurance coverage.

A fourth-generation Summerville native, David earned his Bachelor of Arts from the University of South Carolina in 1994, where he received the prestigious Algernon Sydney Sullivan Award in recognition of his academic achievement, character, and commitment to community service. He received his Juris Doctor from the University of South Carolina School of Law in 1997 before serving as law clerk to the Honorable Howard P. King of the South Carolina Third Judicial Circuit. After practicing with Richter & Haller, LLC, he established Haller Law Firm in 2007.

Outside the courtroom, David remains deeply committed to his community. He helped establish Camp Jenny in 1985, a camp serving underprivileged children, and continues to volunteer with the organization today, reflecting a lifelong dedication to service alongside his legal practice.
